Colina was established in 2011 by me, Pete Collins. I grew up riding bikes in Sheffield in the 80's and 90's. From being a young lad I was brought through the traditional club scene riding the Sunday club run on the obligatory winter haack, mountain biking (90's steel Kona...I loved that bike!)in the Peak with a decent dose of BMX too.
I started Colina with the goal at the time of creating the perfect winter road bike. In that era the market for proper high quality winter frames was limited. I was after proper mudguard fitting, decent clearances, the ability to run a standard drop brakes and of course an end to the rusting and blistering of steel and aluminium frames. Titanium was my choice of material and after putting in the work finding the ideal production partners and several prototypes, the MK 1 Four was born, my very first production frame. As they say, the rest is history and over the years I've developed the Four to become what I consider to be the perfect winter bike as well as adding other models to build a complete line up.
To me it's not about corporate jargon, it's about personal service and attention to detail. I design all the products and work directly with my frame builder partners. When you call it's me who answers the phone, I process all orders and build all the bikes. Other than a helping hand from family and friends, I do it all myself.
Colina has always been about creating beautiful products that are simple and functional. I'll always keep up with new technology but only where it's beneficial, so you'll never find the latest jump to fad on my bikes, unless it genuinely serves a purpose and improves the product.
